Silverlight: Can it be a big winner?
It is reported that Silverlight, Microsoft’s attempt to gain the market where Adobe Flash is dominant now, will support not only .Net but also Python, JS, and Ruby. Personally, I think this is a right way to go. Flash’s its own language was not intuitive to learn (or maybe too intuitive?) for me, so I gave up a few years ago. If these common scripting languages are supported by Silverlight, I believe there will be more people willing to try creating Flash-like content with minimum of effort to learn a new scripting language.
Dynamic Language Runtime (DLR) sounds interesting to me as well. I am just wondering why PHP was not included since PHP will make a superb addition to DLR.
