Arrggg.. No 64 bit driver for EOS 5D. Do I now need a card reader??

While I was taking vacation in Hawaii, since we brought the tripod with us at the cost of $25 for overweight checkin (yeah.. don’t make one big bag for your trip if you are travel with other people. Make one medium size bag for each person!), I tried some long exposure from the hotel room to show my wife what it looks like. I wanted to take at least 25 second bulb shot. So here is the first shot.

Guess what is happening here. IS is on. What a surprise!!! I have not seen this problem with my 70-200 f/2.8L IS, which is supposed to be earlier version of IS. This is a bit of disappointment for this lens’ IS. Good thing that I was shooting digital and noticed this right away; if I were shooting film, this would have been disastrous.

With IS off, this is what I got. Nicer although I still don’t like the light pattern from the building in the center.

긴 갈등속에 구입한 EF 24-105 f/4L IS 렌즈를 오늘 받아보았다.
(사실 UPS에서 사람없다고 다시 가져 간거 저녁에 가서 pick up했다. ㅡ.ㅡv)

First Impression

• 색감: 실내에서 테스트 샷을 몇개 찍었는데 일단 대만족이다. 색 발런스도 잘 맞는거 같고 눈에 띄는 water down된거 같은 색도 안보인다. 내일 시간이 되면 밖에서 몇개 찍어봐야겠다.
• 화각: 24-70과 24-105를 두고 화각때문에 상당히 고민했는데 24-105로 선택하길 잘한거 같다. 105이 그리 많이 땡겨지는 느낌이 아니다. 하지만 이 정도면 70-200으로 바꾸지 않아도 왠만한 사진은 찍을 수 있을거 같다.
• 무게: 뭐.. 원래 별로 상관안하는 것이지만.. but just for the record.. 하나도 안무겁다. 놀랍정도로 가지고 있는 20미리와 그리 차이가 안난다. 약간 더 무거워도 불평 안하겠다.
• IS: It never disappoints me.
• light fall off: Not that it bothers me but I don’t even notice it much. Maybe I should try shooting at 24mm on bright day.
• distortion: I haven’t noticed much, maybe because I am not doing those “scientific” tests that everyone seems doing.. not that I really care though.. I knew this lens had the distortion when i bought it.

하와이 여행이 기대된다. 어쩌면 70-200도 안가져 갈지도 모르겠다. ^_^;

요즘은 무슨 기회의 천국인거 같다. 아님 시험의 천국인지 ㅡ.ㅡa

마눌님이 상으로 렌즈 하나를 사도 된다는 허락이 떨어졌다. 그것도 L 렌즈로 ㅡ.ㅡv

근데 고민이다. 막상 살려고 하니… 꼭 필요한가 하는 생각이 계속 교차한다.

안 살려고 하니깐 ‘다시 기회가 안올지도 몰라. 사라고 할때 사’ 라고 회유(?) 하는 마눌님. ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

후보는 24-70, 24-105, 아니면 35/2.0. 하지만 35/2.0은 싸다는 이유로 마눌님 결제 거부. ㅎㅎㅎ

마음은 24-70으로 가고 있고.. 아직 살려면 시간이 좀 있으니깐 계속 고민해보자~
